Unit

📖 Glossary

Definition

A "unit" is a standard bet amount, typically 1% of your bankroll. It standardizes bet sizing so you can compare performance regardless of bankroll size.

Your bankroll: $5,000
1 unit = $50 (1% of $5,000)

"I'm up 12 units this month" = I've profited $600. "Bet 2 units on this play" = Bet $100. [/example]

Why Use Units?

  • Makes performance comparable (someone up 10u on a $500 bankroll is performing the same as someone up 10u on a $50,000 bankroll)
  • Keeps bet sizing disciplined
  • Professional standard for tracking

On SharpWire, the default unit size is $100 for hypothetical P/L calculations. Your actual unit depends on your bankroll.
